Hi all, im trying to find out what species of timber my floorboards are so i can best match my old house to my new addition.

I live on the mid north coast of new south wales, i know a lot of blackbutt comes out of this area but not convinced this is the species

Attached is a picture of a sanded down off-cut

Any help would be awesome

Greygum? Tallowood?

Someone over at the sister-site Woodworkers Forum may be able to help.

G'day. There are like 18 different species in this area that have been used for flooring. More photos would help.
Thanks.

I'd be saying tallowood on 2 points, the crack is typical of a healed over grub damage area & the distinct ribbony line between summer & winter growth.

For what it's worth, I would suggest brushbox.
