We are ready to replace the carpet. The subfloor (?) is concrete slab. I think we are probably going to go floating floorboards but would love to have the real timber (BlackButt).

The steps (currently under more of the same awful carpet!) are meranti. Upstairs is yellowtongue. Now the long term project is to replace all the carpet with timber, but for the time-being will just stick to the downstairs. will either floating or tiber floors be ok over the yellow tongue?

We also have sliding doors with have those little guides fastened into the carpet. Will they have to be used on the timber too? I am just a bit :oo: at the prospect in case one day we change the doors and there will be these awful holes....(personally I would get rid of them, we never use them, but hubby doesn't want to!)

Thanks for your help
