Hi all,

I'm completely new in the whole renovation thing, so excuse my poor description of the situation.

Our room has multiple different visible surfaces, it appears different layers have been applied to the walls.
there are parts where the paint is bumpy on the surface, which is peeling a little, there are parts where the paint is flat, there are parts where the plaster board is showing and other parts are concrete.

My parents want to paint the wall, is it possible for them to just sand everything level, or in other cases plaster everything level, and paint over different surfaces? It sounds really newb but that's exactly what I am!

depends what you want to achieve? All smooth? The loose paint has to go for sure. Filler onto the concrete?

Hi Cloudy, can you give us a pic or two? One solution may be to plasterboard over the whole wall, but a pic would really help. It is possible to pack a wall out so that it is flat to take a new plasterboard sheet. Saves heaps of time.
