enhancing tessellated tiles

our 100 yr old house has tessellated tiles in bathroom and front verhanda. i would like to clean them and put some shine back. i remember someone saying linseed oil was part of the process?:? also what should i use to prepare (clean) the tiles with that will not be too harsh on the surface.

just wash them down with water and mild soap rinse off let dry the use this, Kerosne 90%, raw linsead oil 10%, apply with polishing action with soft cloth
