Hey guys, not too long ago, I posted on this forum the name of a builder who has a history of unethical work practices (in particular towards plasterers)
This post was removed, with an explanation.
I am just wondering how we as plasterers can inform the greater plastering community of these builders, if we CANNOT do so through a tradies forum such as this.
Cheers

You can inform them by Private Message if they are members here, just don't put it out publicly on the forum.

Can you tell us why he is a "bad builder" to plasterers without naming him?
Thanks

if we CANNOT do so through a tradies forum such as this.
This is just my opinion of course. But I don't see this forum as a "tradies" forum. It is a tradies clients forum!!! It is where tradies come to offer the public assistance and to help them negotiate the problems they face.
That is not to say that a tradie cant offer another tradie advice, but first and formost it is a forum for the owner builder seeking advice from us.
I don't think it is a wise idea to name and shame here as there are all sorts of liability issues for the owners here to consider. That is not to say you shouldn't share your experience with us about the builder without naming him. It may help someone avoid the same issue with any builder down the track.
Cheers Rod

Firstly, happy to PM all tradies, not just plasterers.
Rod, I can give you the details : a large builder, not that well known in Victoria - builds approx 600 homes a year, (as told by our CSR rep) mainly through an investment group out of our great mining state. They Do not and I mean DO NOT pay extras or variations unless they can back charge it to another tradie - (no money paid out of there own pocket)
As you know, someone always knows someone - and through that, we have been told that this has been going on for quite a while.
The outstanding monies build up, the tradie walks away OR they flick you, as you start to put pressure on them - "I wont do the next job until you pay me my extras"
This is a devised strategy, from the top down - if the supervisor cannot pin the blame on someone - no pay
Through our solicitor we have been told and now we hopeful of class action type thing - up to 15 subbies -plasterers, chippie, brickies, concretors - owed alot of money
As for the forum, its for all comers, I have given some advice and I have asked for some also.
How about those P50 rates - just want to be competetive...... Cheers

hey
that really happens alot up here in brisbane, if something is a bone i fied extra then thats fair enuff but damage that they cant blame it on pfttt. i understand it but dont like it. do you get the supivisors to fill out a Work order form ? if so they have to sign it. if they sign it that means you can Legally get your money if you have too. the supers signs are just as good as the construction manger himself, they have a job title which allows them to make decisions and if they sign off on it u got them cold.
