Hey guys and girls,
I just installed some fancy new 1/4 taps to my shower and bath, have replaced spindles before (although a washer unit) and just went ahead and screwed the new ones into where the old ones were and turned back on the water, suddenly the bath and shower started running, turned the taps back to off, and it marginally slowed the water but it was barely noticeable.....what have I missed doing here???!

I think you missed reading the instructions, specifically the bit before it says, 'must be installed by a licensed plumber'. 1/4 turns have an outer body which must be taken off and then the spindle screws into the wall hand tight till it bottoms onto the seat. Once done, the spindle then requires to be tightened ever so slightly so it seals to the seat, [over tighten and you'll stuff them up]. From there replace the outer body. Also remember you put the hot spindle on the left and cold on the right, they are tagged.

I think you missed reading the instructions,

"Read the instructions" - what sort of advice is that to give a DIYer . . .
