Hi.

Been using the website for a while now while planing the deck. Now I need to ask a question that I can't find the answer to.

Deck so far is

- Bearers 2/ 90x45
- Joists 90x45 ( Joist span will be 1450 & joist centres 450mm)

I was planing on skew nailing the joists to the beaers using 100mm twist nails, but after practicing on some offcuts i didn't like the results, seemed to be quite a weak fixing (this could be poor technique)

Anyway what I want to know is which of the pryda products are suitable for connecting joists to bearers.

-Untie
-Triple Grips
-Multigrips
-Pergola angle

Also do you need just one of these per joist/bearer crossing or will I need one each side of joist. Or is skew nailing the way to go.

Cheers

Nominal (minimum) fixing is one 75 x 3 mm skew nail however it is the norm to run a triple grip at each bearer crossing as well. On one side is fine. Use the proper connector nails.

Yu only get one chance at this really. For a DIYer use two nails + triple grips (as ringtail says use proper connector nails - and plenty of them!).

How long do I need to wait before hammering nails into Joist/bearers after concreting the bearers in. Bearers are in stirrups in normal concrete (home mixed concrete).

Is 3 days sufficient?

3 days should be plenty.

This thread isn't about concrete floors tho. It's about concrete footings. Most of what I read about concrete floors freshly laid, is 28 days to cure generally speaking. In some instances, PDFs on floor compounds (pre-tiling) may say as little as 14 days.....

I have been using unities for a similar job that I am doing. That advice was given to me by a builder, and is working fine.
No skimping on nails either.
