Gday all,
Today I painted a new fascia board, pre primed blue colour, I had installed some time ago due to wood rot.

I filled the nail holes with my fave int/ext pre mix filler, Timbermate, sanded and painted with Semi Gloss Duraguard. 2 coats.

Problem being around the filled area appeared shinier than the rest.:?:?:? I've worked out that where I have sanded heavily around the filler has smoothed the primer significantly compared to the rest which I only gave a light sand and a dust.
Anyone had this prob before and any advice which doesn't involve sanding 2 coats of paint off????

Also what do u guys use to fill the joins/mitres?? of smooth timber ie fascias/windows?

Caulking, or no more gaps.

As for the shiny stuff a light sand with a block is all thats needed, however rough it up with a 120 grit or less and touch up with the paint remembering that most people don't look up and the sun will fade the variation anyway.

I once heard someone say if you can't notice it from 6 feet away.. it isn't worth worrying about.
Must be very frustrating to put in all the effort and not quite get the reward you wanted but, in the grand scene of things, will it really be noticed?
I broke into a sweat over every little detail in our renovated kitchen. I did the tiling and can pick huge holes in my work but not one person has noticed.... it's the overall effect that is noticed.
Just a thought is all...

Thanks guys, fascia is at one point nearly 20 feet off the ground. Looking square on you cant notice it but on an angle it looks really ordinary.
Might not have been so bad if it were low sheen but had to match what was on the rest of the timber. Will block it down with a sanding block, give 1 more coat and then not look up

The only person who will notice is you. But you are the one who has to live with it, and if it annoys you now, it will annoy you for good. Sort it out while you have the scaffolding in place.

BTW it is true people do not look up. I have tested this, having read it in a book somewhere, and it is amazing how true it is ...
