Hi New to the forum and looking forward to your help.
We have started to sand old paint work which was the old suede effect type of paint.
When we started at the corner, the paint started to peel off being approx 1/32" thick. It come off in strips quite easy.
As we got further toward the middle of the wall, plaster disappeared and we found that paper was coming off under the paint.
Continued stipping until the job was completed on section of wall 5' x 4'.
Now that all the peeling is complete on this section, we have 6" of plaster from the corner the rest being exposed paper.
Is this normal ? Can we proceed and use Final Finish Top Coat , a type of plaster finishers prior to painting ?
Look forward to your reply.

Can you please post a pic?

You may be able to use just a skim coat. Or it may need tape, depending on what we see in the pic.
