Hi,

I need to replace some weatherboards on our 100 year old house and of course the profile and thickness of the old boards isn't made today. I've investigated having them made but I'll need more later and there is a set-up cost for each order.
I'm thinking of making them myself - they have a cove at the top and a rebate at the bottom, seems like it would be pretty simple with a router table, grunty router and table saw. Anyone else done this? Good idea? Bad idea?

Thanks for your input.

Bud

I made about 10m that way, worked ok.
I think if you wanted a large quantity you may be better to have them done.

Yep. Possible but not practical I am afraid - better to have them milled specially. If it is a local style, try contacting NZHPT as they may know someone who mills them. They used to be based in Hereford Street , but I suspect their offices may no longer be there ...
