Hi, I am planing to DIY my own deck at the backyard. I was going to make it uncovered.
I got some tips from my friends that a uncovered deck is a waste of $$$. It wont last long, etc.
So I would like to get some advice here. I am living in hills area at Adelaide, where is pretty dry. and the backyard is northwest faced. How long it would last if I make a good care of it?
Thanks, :)

Left to its own devices you prob get ten yrs. Build it properly and regular maintenance you should get many more yrs. will also depend on your local climate, wear and tear amongst other factors. Tell your mates that if an uncovered deck is no good then why does council build them everywhere? Boardwalks, decking, jetties etc.

:whs: Depends what you build it from and how well, but mainly how well it is looked after. Could be three years or 300 years!
