Hi everyone,

I am converting my laundry to an extra bedroom and other issues aside (which I have read about elsewhere on this site) I need to move my gas hot water heater, currently inside, to outside or buy a new one and sell the existing one.

My plumber says it's cheaper to buy a new one so I'm researching my options. I have only one bathroom and two people in the house. I wash in cold water, so only use hot water for showers and dishwashing.

My feeling is that heat-as-you-need would be fine for our needs but I would appreciate any suggestions or hear what others have done.

Thanks in advance,

Leonie

I love the Rinnai Instantaneous gas HWS but we have mains gas at our home

The Rinnai continuous flow models are a good option [not instantaneous], but be prepared to waste a bit of water before the hot water comes through.[ There are remedies to solve this, but are a bit pricey]. Initial installation will be expensive.

I have the Rinnai 26 and couldn't be happier. I had to upgrade my mains gas supply to the unit to 3/4" pipe which cost a few bucks and have a power point installed near it. Just a couple of things to consider.

Thanks for your replies so far, I appreciate the help but will wait to see how much the building component of the room conversion will be before I decide whether to proceed or wait.
