Hi Ive just bought a 1910 weatherboard home and confirmed that there is lead in both internal and exterior paint. I am looking at purchasing a speedheater/istrip infra red heater for stripping architraves, doors, weatherboards etc and wondered if anyone had used one and how that worked out. Is it better than the non toxic paint strippers? This may be a silly question but would you use one for internal wall paint too or just scrape it? I am in the process of v-ing out plaster cracks for repair. do i need to scrape off the wall paint at the same time or will it be safe if painted over. I would rather err on the side of caution as my small children will be living there when its done.
