View Full Version : Questions regarding DIY install of Brivis Buffalo 20 ducted heating

Hello All,

I am currently installing the ducted heater, in the title above, into our home. I am doing this as a DIY install and have had a plan designed and all the appropriate parts delivered along with the heater unit.

I have identified all the parts and where they fit into the set-up except for these two:

I know that they are a 'joiner' and 'starting collar' but are they mean't for the return air duct? and how should I fit them into the set-up?

I am also wondering if this cabling is suitable to use for the internal thermostat back to the unit?

I was given this by a friend who believes that it was used in his ducted heating for the thermostat.
To me it looks like 'switch wire', will this suffice? or should I get some form of 24v wire?

Thanks in advance,

Craig

G'day,

The double sided ring on the left is for joining two lengths of flex together, the other on the right is for a floor mounted return air line. I used the same cable for my controller as it was suitable, yours may not be. I'd get someone with knowledge in the area to hook it up, if it's a programmable type the last thing you want to do is pop $700 of electronics.

The starting collar as the name suggests is the piece that connects onto the unit and joins the duct, having said that it wont be necessary as the Brivis have these already on the units base box. But just realising now, that you will use it where the return air terminates.

The joiner is just that, to join two ducts together.

That wire is fine. :)

Thanks for the quick replies.

That has answered my questions and made it easier. The thermostat is the Brivis manual thermostat but are looking to upgrade to the programmable model down the track.

Cheers
