Morning,

Just had a gang of plasterers come in and hang all the sheets in a day. They started taping up with some sort of preloaded plaster and tape roller and I'm not sure this is how I like it. Can anyone tell me how long the process should take. Not based on my house, but on the overall process.
Day 1 - hang sheets
Day 2 - tape joins
Day 3 - base coat
Day 4 - top coat
Day 5 - sand
????

My carpenter also reckons it looks like a 2 year olds work!

Help!

I agree with your carpenter.

Did they use a trowel or their hands? Looks like the later...

If your carpenter is in agreeance that their quality is rubbish, I'd be ending your relationship with them immediately and find someone else to complete the stopping.

Way way to early to make any judgement. It is just the taping coat. This is how it looks when taped with the taping tool. I can forgive anyone who is unfamiliar with this taping method for thinking otherwise as it looks quite different to a hand taped job. Having said that, they may botch up the job who knows. But it wont be because of this taping method.

In respect to the time frame, the entire job can be done in one day, except for sanding. Subsequent coats can be applied once the previous coat has set. This is a part of australian standards. On my iphone otherwise would post the actual clause.

Yep, looks ok to me. The gap in the internal isnt desirable, but sometimes these things happen. A pre fill will take care of that.

I tape in joints using a bazooka or banjo depending on the size of the house, for a couple of rooms i usually just hand tape though. Has to be decent size for me to get out a taper.

That's heaps guys. They've since been back in twice to get to the sanding stage. Ran out of cornice yesterday and do you think I could get any in Geelong? Like a country town sometimes!
Just going on site to check everything has been filled enough and will take some more pics.
It's definately been a massive learning experience for me.
Also Rod, your site and vids online are brilliant. Thanks
