Hi, I have to sand down and paint the interior of a unit. I sold all my tools as I live overseas mostly at the moment but the tenant moved out of my unit so I had to come back and paint it before I let it out again. So I need to buy just the basic tools to get the job done and once done I will try to sell them. I do at least have my general hand tools like hammer, saws etc..
Anyway I have little money for this so I want to get it done as cheaply as possible but I don't want to be finding it not to have enough power or some other problem.
Anyway I painted a home before and my Makita orbital sander was great for that job and that was an old weatherboard house which I spent months on sanding, grinding and painting. The Makita worked well and I sold it but I notice I still have a load of brand new 125" sandpaper discs that might be enough to do this unit. The problem is a new Makita like mine as shown here (http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_makita-random-orbital-sander-125mm_1794.aspx?search=makita&page=4&filter=categoryname--Sanders) will cost me around $160 and a little more than I would like to spend for a job that might only take several days of sanding.
The good news though is that bunnings also sell a product called 450W 125mm OZITO Orbital sander (http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_450w-125mm-ozito-ozro450a-random-orbital-sander_448.aspx)for just $49 - The Makita is 300w so 450w Chinese junk might be enough? Or I could even maybe go for the 220w version (http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_220w-125mm-ozito-rog191-random-orbital-sander_1980.aspx)for $37 or is that pushing it?
I used a small Makita grinder last time too for really rough jobs but I think I will get away with not needing one of those on this job and just use the sander or hand filing etc.
The walls are going to need a bit of fill as there are picture holes and the odd rough part but its not too rough to prepare. it probably has been at least 15 years though since some walls were painted while others have been hacked a few years ago with bad painting and some peeling is occurring.
Anyway, do you think one of these OZITO orbital sanders will take my Makita 125" paper discs and will the sander be up to a job like this?
