How to prevent a face from getting splattered with paint when painting a ceiling?

Hi All,
Can someone please suggest a way to prevent paint splatter onto my face when I'm painting a ceiling? I've tried everything from expensive roller covers to hats with broad brims but nothing works and I keep getting splattered with paint.

G'day,

If it's as bad as u say i reckon you've got too much paint on the roller. What brand of paint are you using? Never had an issue with Dulux 101 at my place.

Not sure about the whole face but my cousin who wears glasses covers them in gladwrap when painting.
Can't say I had any big issues with splatter last time I painted a ceiling.

Light splatter does happen.
A few hints to reduce the problem. Use a quality heavy duty pole on the end of your roller. I like the grip on Sure-Line extendable poles.
Don't load the roller up too much with paint and try rolling it a bit slower. The final "feather coat" is where the tendency is to use the roller too quickly, this will spin fine droplets off the roller.
Having a moist sponge to keep the ends of the roller free of excess paint also helps.

I'm currently using Zinsser Cover Stain to seal some areas where I have patched the ceiling with Gyprock Base Coat and Total Coat-Lite and getting the Cover Stain off my face is hard work.

When we had to stain doors for kitchens i'd rub some vaseline on my hands prior to applying the stain to help with getting it off later. Haven't had to do it for ages, stained timber kitchens are rare these days...

I usually just take a shower afterwards . . . :-

I always roll the roller on the tray a fair bit, after filling with paint, to even out the paint in the roller and remove any excess. Don't roll the paint on the ceiling too quickly. Shouldn't get much on your face that way.

Well they are all lovely ideas. But, just get some else to paint the ceiling and then it's their problem not yours.

If you moisturise thoroughly before you start it comes off easier - try applying sorbolene cream to your face before you start.
