Deck stained after rendering

G'day,

We recently had a merbau deck built and weeks later rendered the house. When the house was rendered the deck wasn't sealed yet, because the merbau needs to bleed for a while. The renderers managed to spill some of the render on the deck which caused some dark stains. Is there a way to remove the stains or do the effected boards need replacing?

Maybe try vinegar on a less noticeable spot first and see if that helps.

If the staining looks like a concentration of tannins then the varioous WoodClean, Powerlift, or Napisan (see Utemad's sticky thread in the Decking forum) treatments may help. Be carefull to protect the render when using harsh cleaning products especially if it's acrylic.
