View Full Version : Do i need another coat of undercoat

Guys take a look at this for me. The wall was like a sky blue and I've put one coat of undercoat on it. Is it good enough for the top coat or requires another undercoat layer...

Depends on the final colour and the quality of the paint - and a top coat should be two coats anyway regardless of the claims of a single coat being OK. It is also OK to tint an undercoat too - if covering a very dark colour it can be useful to tint the undercoat - my painter uncle used to do this 50 years ago! The idea is to do it a the same shade, but a little lighter ie: a 1/2 or 2/3 tint.
Do a test paint down low or some where not too obvious and see what you think - never going to be able to tell from a pic.
