Hi all,

I have the option from choosing either a ceasar stone or Quantum Quartz for my kitchen, my question essentially is which is better, in terms of longevity, strength, durability, and better against chipping etc..

cheers

G'day,

Short answer, neither. QQ is more pricey than CS but has no impact on quality, pick a colour you like and make sure it all comes from the same batch so you get consistent colour throughout the slabs.

hmm thats interesting considering that I was initially being charged an additional $500 if I chose ceasar stone over quantum quartz and then after an objection they waived the additional cost for ceasar stone.

Hmm so people think QQ is the way to go then?

My instinct is to tell you to go with a high quality laminate, which meets all of the above criteria. There are some amazing laminates these days, which emulate stone. It's also way less expensive than the faux stone products.

The chef in my kitchen always says he would not have any stone unless it were for pastry or chocolate making, and then it would have to be polished marble as it stays coolest for the longest.

Nonimus...I asked the same questions when choosing between CS and QQ as some suppliers charged a higher price for one or the other, while some charged a higher price for different colours. It's soooo confusing!!

Anyway the stoney who I chose in the end (seemed more honest, took the time to explain things and had the best price) said he uses both CS and QQ, but at times can buy one or the other for a better price which he passes on to his customers, which might explain why the others I talked to had varying prices. Pity they didn't explain it was due to deals with their suppliers.

Both CS and QQ (as you've probably discovered) have similar colours so I ended up with 30mm CS because he could get it for the same price as 20mm QQ. He also said longevity, strength, durability etc was the same in both products. He also cut an 85mm hole (free) for the power tower whereas other stoney's were quoting up to $500 for cut one hole!!!

As Godzilla has mentioned, make sure the pieces you get are from the same batch because apparently QQ doesn't stamp this info on the back of the sheets as CS does, so I'm not sure how you would know the difference....you'd have to check! You can register your warranty with CS online, then they send a 'care pack' via snail mail.

After having CS for the last 18 months I would have it again in a heartbeat, in fact when I buy/reno the next house (as soon as this one is sold) first job is to replace the kitchen and CS or QQ will be the first choice.

Hope this helps? :D

thanks everyone, I've decided to go Quantum Quartz mainly since there seems to be no difference and my bathrooms will all have QQ tops so might as well have consistency throughout the house. I can't believe that I was being quoted $500 additional to use Ceasar stone and then asked if I could use QQ instead and have $500 credited to something else the answer was well....no we can't do that LoL...

what a rip.
anyway looks like i made my decision.

cheers

So you bag a bloke out for being honest?

So you bag a bloke out for being honest?

huh, how is it being honest? Firstly he charged me $500 additional for the ceasar stone already in my package that I bought over the Quantum quartz, but when I asked him that I'll take the Quantum Quartz and have the $500 credited to use elsewhere he said no. So he is willing to take the $500 but not offer it back so you really think that this is honest Come on...

Talk about taking with one hand and not giving it back, not sure how you can defend such practice especially when essentially it was paid for in the package but then not returned.

Has any money changed hands? You said in post 6 you were quoted+$500 for CS. You didn't accept it and went the cheaper in price QQ option. Why would you then get $500 off?

CS have different price ranges so may explain the extra $ but which the manufacturer didn't explain well.

its actually in the contract in my inclusions of what is being built so you can say it has exchanged hands by my paying extra for the package inclusions, the difference is that initially when i asked for a kitchen that was in my agreed contract they said I would have to pay additional $500 over the QQ even though it was already in my inclusions. Now since it was already in my inclusions they waived the additional $500 charge since they saw that it was included as part of my contract, although when asked if they would credit the $500 to something else in the kitchen if accepting the QQ (since it is $500 cheaper by their own admission) they said no.

I have done this on many items in the build and received credit for said items but wasn't going to argue this one as tbo their both good stones but i could have pushed it really.

So again how do u see this actually being honest, Not having a go at you but you seem to be trying to defend your stance just for the sake of it.

QQ comes in bigger slabs, which may be handy in a situation where you have a long island bench and you want to avoid the join.

having done a job recently with QQ, i cant say i am a fan, although it may have come down to the fabricator and not the product.
