ok im researching how to attach bearers to brick piers using n12 reo bars and hoop iron the problem i have which hopefully shows in my probably inadequate drawings when you put on the 1st bearer which is attached by slotting the reo bar into the bearer and securing with the hoop iron how do u attach the 2nd bearer when theres no more reo left as the 1st bearer has it. i had thought that you would continue along the line with full length bearers and fill in the gaps using a short bearer bolted to the outside of the other bearers but still resting on the pier.im sure you will all have a laugh but id prefer some advice as to how this is done thankyou shelley

i dont really follow the detail youve drawn but why not use booker rod (threaded rod) with nut and washer to tie down the bearer?

From my understanding, what you proprose will work.

Why can't you simply 'halve' the bearers over the reo point. ?
