how high off the ground is acceptable
for stirupps to be safe .
I have seen some at Bunnings
over 2 feet long

From the pryda website..........

And 300mm can be pushing it depending on what is load is above that and especially how deep the stirrup has been embedded. The extra length (up to 600 in total) is so you can get sufficient depth into the concrete footing (having 300mm above with just a 100mm coverage of concrete for example might be OK in some situations, not in others). Those that are long sometimes do not have plates with holes on the bottom, but simply bent ends to resist being pulled out of the concrete, but now it is common to just use the one type.
