What are the standard Floor to Cieling Heights?

Hi guys,

Just working through a new design and trying to figure out the best floor to cieling height, and underside of roof truss...

I work it out as...
10mm under bottom sheet...
Bottom sheet width 1200 or 1350...
Top Sheet width 1200 or 1350...
10mm above top sheet...
Ceiling board thickness 10 or 13mm
Ceiling batten 22 or 30mm
Then obviosuly underside of roof truss..

Are these the normal gap allowances? or is the roof/ceiling join a "tight" corner?

Generally its 2400mm minimum from floor finish to ceiling in a habitable room, unless the ceiling is sloping in that case you can go lower at the edges of the rooms. Non habitable rooms can come down to 2100mm.

Standard heights that work with plasterboard are either:
2400
2550
2700
3000
3150
3300
3600

All to finished floor ceiling levels.

If you are going to batten you should allow 40 mm so the frame height will be 2440 2590 etc.

If you are going to square set then only allow 30mm if you have cornice you can allow 50mm.

Deduct 20mm (16mm exact) from this if you do not batten.

Thanks Rod, is it still practice to put the bottom sheet up 10mm?(thickness of a scrap piece of plaster)

I've heard:

2400 wall frames, perimeter wall double top plate ie 35mm extra.
this allows for truss deflection and for ceiling battens.

Yes Put the 10mm gap on the bottom sheet.
