More problems on our move back to our home after 9 years. The kitchen cupboards have varnished wooden handles and there are two varnished timber framed glass doors on two of the cupboards.

The problem is that some ( the more frequently used ) handles and the timber frames around their respected handles as well as the handles, are quite sticky.

We have tried cleaning with hot soapy water, concentrated grease remover and metho but if anything it appears to get worse.

Any ideas on what has caused the problem and what the solutions is?

David,
Do you know what product was used last time?

Narrowed the problem down a bit - it's the handles and cupboards over the gas hotplates.

So any suggestions as to the best varnish to redo them with that will stand up to the heat/fumes?
