Hello Guys

Wondering whether I can get some quick advice here.

We recently got a new roof on, and as always there was some rain on the second day (night and day) of install and it appears that although they covered some of the roof they did not do it sufficiently and it appears that water has gone into the wall cavities. It is only in a couple of rooms, but for those rooms the majority of the external walls appear damaged.

I have the guy coming out today - not happy but that is to be expected.

Question is, will sanding this back, sealing and painting once dry be ok - or does it look like the sheets need to be replaced. They are all chamfer boards.

He suggested if he agrees that he is responsible he will take photos and report it to his insurance company.

I just do not want a dodgy fix if it needs replacing.

Thanks in advance team.

Update - The guy who has come around has said that he does not think what he was doing caused the damage (of course)....

The question is, could he be right?

There does not appear to be any stains / damage to the ceiling. It appears limited to the wall sheeting. The rooms are south facing.

However, when it was raining, the same section of roof was covered in an insulation blanket (just no colourbond sheeting).

My thoughts are that this could have stopped general rain to the roof, but somehow sheeted water down the inside of the walls??? Would this be possible? It is a simple single gable old style QLDer (rectangle shape house).

He has suggested it could have been existing damage that is resurfacing in the colder, moister weather?

It just seems to be too much of a coincidence...

He has left the door open to claim under his insurance, but I am thinking I may need to get second advice first. Obviously he is not promoting this option... Any recommendations of who I should get out??? In Brisbane...

Any help would be good thanks...
