Hello all,
I want to render internal brick walls. I have openings in walls where I intend to install timber doors. What should be done first - render or installing door frames? I rang Doors Plus and they said there are different schools of thoughts on that, and that it is possible to do either way. Does anyone know advantages/disadvantages of doing it one or the other way? Thanks heaps.

Because rendering is a wet trade, seasoned timber & moisture don't mix, not to mention the cement staining of the grain.

Hi,

either way, as long as render and whiteset done before the archs go on for best result and then "no more gapped" to take up any slack

may have to render first if you have to get a finished wall thickness for door frame construction
thanks
