OK Bloss, and I don't wish to hijack another's thread ..... I have the same challenge in brick vener

If you aren't going to remove the outside linings, whatever they are, how are you going to get sarking over the outside face of the wall framing?

Perplexed .....

Hmmmmm. Tricky.
As the brick ties will be in the way......

What about doing strips of sarking vertically between the studs? Cut a little over length and staple the top to the underside of the top plate, then nail a short lenght of 2x1 over that to keep the sarking taught to the outer face.

Piece of 2x1 for the bottom plate, and tension it by pulling on the 'tail' sticking out under the 2x1.

Fiddly, but can't see what else you can do.....

Concertina foil batts (Concertina FOIL BATTS - foil insulation - main page (http://www.concertinafoilbatts.com/)) are designed to be installed between studs for walls, joists for floors, rafters for roofs. They are more an insulator than a complete moisture barrier but are the best I can think of in this situation.

They will also be all the wall insulation you will need.
