Hi Guys, I have water leaking into my bathroom and have no idea where it is coming from. What I do know is the roof is not in great condition and welcome any advice / suggestions on what I can do. I have attached some photos.

Where the roof meets the flat roof is where the internal wall is and also where the water is running down the wall into the bathroom below. I have been quoted $2,000 and $2,600 to replace the roof (for which the parts apparently cost a few hundred dollars). I was wondering if someone could explain if this would be a difficult job to do myself and what step would be involved.

If I got new sheeting does it need to sit under the tiles - therefore requiring the tiles to be lifted etc.

Thanks

Hi Thomas. I've been here long enough to recognise that roof. Was any of the previous advice helpful? http://www.renovateforum.com/f76/help-roof-repairs-91781/#post803539

Previous advice was helpful in their suggestions and it seems like Trimdeck is the way to go. Was hoping someone could provide a guide on how to tackle this job and whether they think it is too big for a novice?? A quote of $2,000 seems a lot for such a small area? Also, how would I lay Trimdek down with those wooden battens in the way??

That is an interesting roof to say the least, the new sheeting has to be under the tile, but it also needs to be properly flashed which may account for why you have your existing problems. To be honest it may need increased fall and for that you would need to raise the rear of the skillion and bring it in further up the roof line. From your questions I think the money spent on the plumber would be well spent as I suspect you are going to have trouble doing a leak proof replacement yourself.
