Greetings all,

I will shortly need to select a Laserlite sheet for my new pergola, and am interested in people's feedback and advice. I think I remember reading on a forum somewhere that one of the tints should be avoided, although I'm not sure why?

The pergola is on the East side of a double story house, with most of the North side also blocked by double story. At the height of Summer it will be in full shade by about 1-2pm. As far as heat is concerned I'm not really worried, and am probably going to go clear, or at the worst a small amount of tint.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ben

G'day,

I just put up 30m2 of Ampelite Solasafe Corrugated in Grey Tint, i have it on my garage as well and it withstood the massive hail storm we had here about 18 months ago without a problem. Where the Laserlite was Swiss Cheese, the grey tint lets lots of light thru and was a few $$$ cheaper p/m. At first i was sold on the Laserlite 3000+ but it lets in far less light. I'd highly recommend the Laserlite Oneshot screws though...

You can get a few kinds of grade of Laserlite brand, cheaper and more expensive one.
I chose the cheaper which is now over 12 months and seems fine for now but be
careful with the oneshot screws as they can make as you put it swiss cheese out of the
laserlite if your not to careful.

I found the Oneshots to be great, used an impact driver with the shortest tip i could find to avoid wobble. Was putting up one sheet every 5 mins or so...

As heat is not an issue you can choose whatever you like colour wise. If you want to maximise light go for a white/opal colour as it will diffuse the light and spread it evenly - a bit like difference between the effect of a clear incandescent globe (direct/'harsh' light) and an opal one (soft/diffused light). The whiter the colour the more radiant heat it will reflect so the cooler underneath it will be. Greys are warmer underneath as they are effectively black to the sky and reflect very little.

I was unaware some brands are stronger than others - heaven forbid we get the hail storm from hell, but I have Laserlight out the back and Ampelite on the carport so the test is ready and waiting :)
