Hello All,

We are about to begin our renovation and extension on our heritage Victorian Miners Cottage & Figtree. The original owners were Cedar cutters and there are reports of Ned Kelly's grand-daughter?

As seen in the photo's, the original cottage is long overdue for some TLC, and we are now here to provide it!:o
The termites and borers have been and gone and will hopefully stay away and not think that the 'old pub' is open again??
I will have to lift all the flooring to re-stump and strengthen with recycled hardwood and replace the floor with Tallowood? Then reclad with some hardwood cladding.

I have attatched a copy of our proposed plans for the extension at the back of our cottage in an attempt accommodate our growing family.
The extension will be on a concrete slab with a polished finish, colorbond cladding and aluminium windows and doors.
The side views of the extension are from a northern prospective.

I know we are in for one fun:o ride so any feedback, views, design changes, colours, materials, experiences etc etc etc...speak up now...PLEASE!!

It does indeed look like fun. One suggestion. Reorient the ridge of the new 2-storey to run parallel with the original roof and have another look at it. I think it will work better. I like the separation between the original 2-room cottage and the new extension. It could be improved a little bit more by providing a set-back at each end, so the cottage stands free on all four sides, with the new stuff starting 300-500mm in from each end. Doesn't have to extend the full length of the skillion, just enough to provide the separation between the two elements.
