QBSA Builders license acquisition

Planning to get my QBSA open license next year

I've studied associate degree in civil engineering and also got my bachelors in construction management. I've got 7yrs project coordinator/ contract admin commercial experience and 5+- years on site (site work) experience. I've also worked as a building services technical for couple of years.



Now is this enough to grant me my license?
what are the documents required ie. referees, study degree, letters from employees etc...
The idea of getting my license is to do Landscape Design and Construction, in which i basically will subcontract all trades (i wont be doing any trade work myself)

I've contacted QBSA and they want me to submit my paper work for their review, but they me to fill up paper work and $$ pay so it can be reviewed.
But i want to make sure i can fulfill the requirements before submitting any docs, also going back and forth.

For what its worth ( you probably have anyway) have a look at the BSA website. It gives all the requirements for a licence. Most need a trade qual behind them but RPL can get you by with the right references and a skills test. You probably wont have a drama with the BSA as long as you pay the $$$ because thats all they are, a insurance driven money collection agency with no teeth and no idea of their own legislation

thanks, i think i have to write a book over Christmas break with all the info they need... :bricks:
i worked as a junior chippy/ leading hand, do what ever for 5yrs or so but dont have any docs, i can get the old Boss to write a letter or two.
so ur saying that i have to go through RPL to get this work recognized?

You will need letters from previous employers outlining all the skills that you have gained, what you did on jobs and the frequency of those tasks. Photos are just about mandatory to prove your case. I suggest giving the boys at Blue Dog Training a call to discuss RPL assessment. Jump on their website and have a look. As far as I'm aware, RPL includes practical and written assessment so photos go a long way to prove the practical side. But, its up to you to prove you are fit and proper to hold a licence ( and financial too). It aint like the good old days I'm afraid.
