Hooly Dooly........what a nightmare. Whats the trick?

I have square set cielings and I for the life of me cannot get a crisp clean line. Have tried using the blue painters tape with no joy. Seems to leak or pull the paint off when removed.

Tried talking the better half into the same colour for walls and cieling but will not suffice:roll:

What gives?

Hi All

We wish to paint our unit. We live in Darwin and have some time off over Christmas, is it possible to paint with so much humidity?
Walls are rendered/plastered besser brick.
If we don’t have our air conditioner on we can have water running down the walls due to other residents having theirs on. If however we do have ours on this doesn’t happen, though the walls are cold offcourse. We get mouldy walls a few times a year and clean with exit mould. Would a prep of cleaning the walls...

Would a prep of cleaning the walls with sugar soap suffice? What are the best paints? The walls and ceiling would be water based with the skirtings and doors oil based. Hopefully we could get a paint with a mould inhibiter already incorporated?

I have a room where some of the bricks have been painted however I have just removed some panelling and need to match the finish. The bricks have an EXTREMELY rough surface, I'm sure they have a name but I can't for the life of me remember what they're called, but the bulk of the brick looks almost like a sponge, with smoother corners. The house is about 40 years old and I've seen these bricks used extensively in houses of this era.

I have a reasonable match on the paint colour, but am having a lot of trouble painting these things. I began by trying to prime with Dulux 1 step primer/sealer applied by brush. It was a joke, it would have taken me a day to do a few square metres, and even then it didn't get right in to all the brick. Next I tried spraying, needless to say much faster, but still with the same problem regarding the brick surface.

Since it doesn't match the previous surface, I wonder if the last person has used something to partially seal these bricks? It's clearly brushed, but I wonder if one of the very light render products may have been used, and if so any clues?

Cheers
