    Default G'day from Brisbane

    G'day all,

Ned from Brisbane, where the sun has finally decided to shine and try and dry out all the muddy backyards.

I'm on holidays from work for a few weeks and have been enjoying the time off to get some jobs done around the house. Next job on the list is to relocate the old hills hoist, but I want to modify it if I can i.e. reduce it's current imposing 5m span to probably 4 metres. Has anyone tackied something like this before? It is an old hoist and it looks posible by unbolting the arms and cutting them shorter with an angle grinder and putting it back together again - just wondering if there were any tricks to it? Of course it would be easier to cut it off at the knees and buy a new one, but I can't stimulate the economy that much at present !

    cheers

    Ned

I have thought about doing the same with mine...just haven't got a round to it...looks simple enough...and don't cut it off at the knees and buy a new one...the old Hills hoist is an Aussie icon...

    Leeton,

Well I'm going to have a crack at it so I'll let you know how it goes.

I agree it's an Aussie icon, it'll just be a bit smaller after I'm done !
