    Default G'day from Islington (Newcastle)

Just about to start the renovation of an 1890s to early 1900s house on brick piers. Got a few challenges including a 3m high single brick "retaining" wall that needs to be dealt with, the usual movement issues associated with poor drainage and a couple of failed footings as a result of trees being planted within a foot of the dwarf walls supporting the verandah and kitchen.

Apart from that all is good. I am a sparky by trade and about 1/2 way through my building diploma so I trust I will be able to assist others as much as I am assisted.

    Cheers and Beers

G'day Craig and Welcome to the forum.
What you're about to embark on sounds really an interesting project.
So have a look around, settle in, and ask for any advice you need.
If you have any forum problems, just give me a yell.
    Have Fun!!

    Default Thanks for the welcome

    Russell,

Can't claim to be a Novocastrian yet I'm afraid. Probably need a couple of decades to claim that title. Having said that I don't really have a locality having left Penrith for the Army just short of 28 years ago. I have been moving every 12-24 months ever since. Time for my boys to have a place to call home when they leave school and Nescastle is it.

    Cheers and Beers
