    Exclamation Dangerous step in Deck

Recently I completed a split level deck of approximately 6m x 6m. It steps down by slightly less than one normal step drop across its six metre span. It is finished in a combination of hardwood and redgum. The problem I have now is that no-one sees the step and everyone stumbles down it or even up it on occasion (myself included).
I am looking for suggestions on what to use to draw ones eye to the step. I have searched the hardware stores and the closest I can get to what I am looking for are some medium size bugle head screws which could be inserted along the piece of timber at the point of the step. However these are not the most attractive option.
I have noticed some public boardwalks/piers etc have used this method to effect however with better hardware.
Any ideas on what to use and where to source it?

How about a lenght of aluminium, brass or stainless angle fitted to the edge? This would help make the step more visible.

Re-do the step in the least dominant of the two timber species you have built the deck from.
So, if the deck is pre-dominantly Redgum do the step in Hardwood.

    Default black anti slip tape

why not try some yellow and black hazard tape !!! or maybe some black anti slip tape in a few thin lines proir to the step ( seen this and it looks ok ) or try some 12 volt deck lights recessed into the timber, they are coming in all shapes and sizes as well as diffrent colours these days. Can we see a few pictures when you have finished.davo
