Default Recommend a good re-stumper/leveller in Melbourne? - has anyone ever DIY lifted?

    Hi everybody,

I'm currently wokring on getting some pricing for my Dad to re-stump his house - can anyone recommend a good stumper/leveller in Melbourne who services the eastern suburbs? Also, what is the going rate, approximately, for re-stumping? The whole house needs to be lifted and restumped and there's about 80 stumps all up.

Also, has anyone ever done a DIY lift? the house is small 40ft X 20ft - any advice would be appreciated

Some people have tried DIY; they are the ones you usually read about, or see on the news, when the house collapses or slides off the jacks. Get a qualified re-stumper. They have the experience, the proper lifting equipment, and know how to maneuvre and set the heavy stumps.

Its not a hard process. I did my own house (65 stumps) and it cost me about $1000 in materials and my time. For 80 stumps you would be looking at around $9000-$11000 if you pay someone to do it. That also depends on access etc. If they cant crawl under the house you will have to rip your floor up.

Did you lift the house in one go or did you do it in stages?

I can give you the name of a good restumper, if you are still looking for someone. Cheers
