Default Dishwasher installation in existing kitchen

    Hi,

We've got an existing kitchen that has not previously had a dishwasher.

We'd like to get one installed however not sure where to start as from what I can tell the cabinets will need to be modified, electrical wiring supplied to installation location and plumbing.

Can anyone recommend someone who could do all of that or a combination of people? We are in Altona Meadows VIC.

I would get a cabinet maker out to your house first and have a look at what's involved to achieve what you are after. Then from there the cabinet maker should have contacts of other trades required to help finish the job.

Can you post a pic of the layout?

Quite often you can remove a carcase from the existing cupboards as seem to be made just the right size to slip a dishwater in.

Here you go, I've called a local cabinet maker and sent some pictures to them for an opinion as well but won't hurt to get some thoughts on this board as well.

Looks like the sink is in a pretty annoying position as doesn't look like a dishwasher is going to fit there very easily without moving the sink around.

Cheers mate, pics help a lot around here.

To be honest and save you the hassle, i think you'll struggle to get a decent outcome with the D/W install. The double bowl sink is a problem and moving it around the corner from the sink will add significantly to the cost, you may get someone around to have a look but you'd be lucky to get a quote or call back from them.

Not what you want to hear but i'd put what you could spend here into a new kitchen. Just my honest opinion based on the pics.

I agree with Godzilla, better off putting your money towards a new kitchen. I also noticed there is a join in the top right in the middle of the bowls, i can see that will cause problems down the track.

Thanks that's what I thought, the only possibility I could see was moving it around the corner like you say and buying a slim line dishwasher that could fit perfectly in one cupboard width on the end. Would still require a bit of modification to the cupboards and plumbing all the way back to the sink.

However would require the least changes to the kitchen.

This unit here Bosch Household Appliances - Appliances - Dishwashers - Built-Under - SPU53E05AU is about the same width as end of the cupboard and I checked specs can have maximum 4m hose run. I measured up and from end cupboard on the right on picture would be about 2.5m back to sink.

It doesn't look an overly difficult kitchen mod either. Pull that section out basically cut the 2 doors section in half leaving the left door, put it back in and have a tailor made spot for the dishwasher?

It's hard to tell from the pics but are the cupboards deep enough to fit that dishwasher at 573mm?

Yep depth is 595mm from front of tiles to front of the bench.

Can anyone recommend a cabinet maker around Altona Meadows that would be up to it?
