    Default Nectre Bakers Oven Woodstoves

Ok I'm just throwing this out there...I am thinking of buying one of those Nectre Bakers Ovens. It's like a combustion wood heater that you can cook on or in. Anyway if you have one you will know what I'm on about. Just wanting some feedback on them, if they are good or bad, how long they last, how good they are to cook with ect ect. Gunna cost me around $3000 so I want to make sure it's what I want before I part with my hard earned cash. And yeah I know it's like the start of summer but I like to be well prepared.

I have one. It works well as a heater, as an oven it is useful for bread or scones. Any daintier cooking - the temperature control is not good enough and the oven is either too hot or too cool. I love being able to keep a stew chugging on top, but again, temperature control needs work. The 'detachable cheeks' will be warped by the end of your third winter and quite thin as well. I am amazed at how much exfoliates from the metal surfaces.

There is a slightly more expensive oven called a gourmet cooker that has better temperature control, takes 18 inch wood (mine takes 12 inch which costs more and is harder to come by), and which has a larger oven (you can fit a big turkey in it). If I had my druthers, I would have gone the extra yard and bought that had I but known.

Another consideration is getting a wetback for it - I did not have space in the fireplace, but if it is free-standing then go the extra yard and introduce some hydronic heating into your home!

BTW I can not speak too highly of their after-sales service. I had their head bloke turn up at my remote rural home in the middle of Tasmania to fit a replacement bit that was causing problems - nice friendly people.
