Mines a Blanco - a thing of beauty and a joy to cook with (well it will be when the plumber arrives and attaches the gas ... - that aside, it is, sadly, a freestanding job, and you look as if you are after a wall-oven built in. They are cheaper than the ones with hotplates though, so you should be able to run to the lower end Smeg if you are lucky.
is it worth paying more what am i getting for the extra cost alot of the oven on Product Review Australia - your reviews on products and services on the Australian marketplace get bad reviews some are over $1500.
Have to admit it is so long since I bought the appliances that are only now being connected, I have completely forgotten how much I paid for them. My only complaint about the Blanco is that the temperature markings are a bit 'general' so I am having problems working out if the oven is the right temp for the cakes I am baking - with some interesting results at times. Still, any new oven has a few 'getting used to' quirks and lord knows, I have had a lot of ovens in the various places I have lived ...
You may be better off going to ebay and getting a really good conditioned (1-2 years old) bosch, miele, etc for alot less than $800 rather than an average oven brand new.
Do you have any places that sell carton damaged stock but with full warranties etc?

Best advice I would give is to buy an appliance that has a full warranty. I have been to many an appliance bought at auction/Ebay that don't have a warranty, and ultimately fail. The repair cost on some of these high end brands can be horrendous. For example: ceran glass for F & P/Westinghouse/simpson/chef cooktops approx $400.
Kleenmaid $1300/expect the same for other top end stuff. same glass from same factory.
Why would someone sell a perfectly functional oven, that is hard wired and mounted in a cavity. Basically they wouldn't unless it had issues.
Be aware that a lot of the " lower quality " products are in fact rebadged flash models. I have an Omega electric oven / gas cook top free standing combo that is a rebadged Smeg. Find the sticker on the back and look carefully to get the units true origin. My F & P dishwasher is a Bosch.
I was looking at buying either of these models

is it worth getting the self cleaning one it just does the walls
There is a lot of re-branding by the Germans, you can even buy a Mercedes or Audi oven...Miele Bosch AEG share a lot of switches and components but that does not make them all equal.
My undrstanding is that Bosch have a partnership to jointly produce electrical items in Korea with Samsung, mainly hybrid batteries...but if they are making ovens it would be a Bosch Oven made by Samsung for the Asian market, so in truth still not a Bosch oven and never trust a salesman...ever. lol![]()

Don't get Catalytic cleaning confused with pyrolytic cleaning. Catalytic cleaning is where they use catalytic plates on the side wall to absorb cooking residues. They do get dirty and residue does go behind the plates. They sometimes have then on the ceiling of the oven above the grill element as well.
Pyrolytic cleaning is very high temperature burning off of residue...not available in ovens of that price range.
Ariston is Harvey Normans "home' brand. say no more!
Yeah I know the one I was looking at just cleans the sides, I didnt think it was worth the extra $400-500.
I found out about Ariston and Harvey normans after I went there the other day I was looking at a Bosch then the guy said take a look at the Ariston's
I have read the Aristons are pretty good though what does everyone else think
Sorry mate
My bad this is Melbourne
My wife and I have been looking at ovens for over a year now, and every friday I go to a Harvey Norman, Good Guys, Clive Peeters, Retravision etc. We go in with the two little kids, and spend time letting them run riot while I check ovens, prices, salesmen etc.
You know in all that time and after about 40 visits, I can honestly say I have only had 1 that is ONE salesman who actually took the time to listen and help properly. He asked about house type, budget, size, look, expectations etc. He could see that I was very clued up to what brands were available, what I had read in reviews, prices etc. He got me to draw pictures of fitting areas, the wife to open close doors, get different trays sliding in and out etc. We even got the kids to play with the knobs, yank on them, see if they would break, stand on the door while open. The salesman said that is what the display stock is for. If you can break it with a standard family, then you know what you are buying.
He said straight up he will match any price on this website. Home Appliances, Fridges, Washing Machines | Appliances Online
So after an hour and a half, we had decided after a year on which unit we would get. SWMBO was happy, and we did not buy there and then. I feel pretty happy with the final outcome to suit our budget and the look we are after, along with warranty and later parts availability and repairability.
