Default base coat over timber stud?

    Hi

Can i just base coat then skim coat over the face of an exposed pine stud?

The stud will have external angles screwed to both edges, so can i just base coat fill in between the two external angles straight onto the timber without covering it with gyprock first..... without running into any problems?

    thanks

I reckon you'll get cracking, over time, from timber movement ... but I'm certainly no expert.

Why can't you just put a piece of gyprock/FC sheet on the face of the stud?
    Cheers.

    Vernon.

You can buy a cap with 2 ext cnr's built in sold in lots of sizes mostly for steel stud sizes, I do know that you can get one for a 90 stud with 10mm plaster each side.
