Thread: Painting Ceiling with Undercoat

Hi,

I have a tin of ceiling white paint but there is only enough left for one light coat for the lounge room I'm about to paint. What I would like to know is can I use standard wall paint undercoat fo the first coat and then paint the ceiling paint over that? The exact paint I have is called "British Paints Trade Master Interior Acrylic Undercoat Sealer".

I prefer to use brushes as I found I wasted too much paint with the rollers.

If you really don't want to buy anymore ceiling paint then I'd do 2 coats of undercoat (or one really good coat) and then a single coat of ceiling paint.

I found the roller used less paint than a paint brush when I was doing it but I guess just depends how you paint.

yeah I think I'll just give it one good coat of undercoat first & I might try the roller this time as it is quite a big area. cheers!

With a lot of the rooms in my place I couldn't tell the difference between 1 and 2 coats of ceiling paint.

Whatever paint you use, rather than "one good coat", two lighter coats, with the second applied at 90 degrees to the first will give a much better finish and more even coverage. Cheers and Good Luck.
