Thread: Finishing ceiling to tiled bathroom walls

Hi , I have had my complete bathroom tiled floor to ceiling. Before the tiler started i removed cornices , As the walls finish slightly higher than ceiling i had the intention of doing a shadowline . I asked the tiler to finish tile height at top of ceiling . I have noticed the tiles in places do not finish high enough so if i was to use rhondo p50 i would have a gap ,also noticed walls are not straight enough.
I really dont want ugly cornice.
At the moment the tiling is finished and i have a 10mm gap around perimeter of ceiling . could i square set the ceiling to tiled walls ?
Maybe fill the gap to couple mm off wall then flexible sealant? any suggestions of how i could finish this off would be appreciated

L bead sounds good, some gaps are between 10-20mm do i still fill those gaps with plaster then fit L bead to wall then no more gaps??Cheers

It is best to pre fill 20mm gaps a liitle but leave space for the L bead the bead is 25mm wide and will cover the edge of the board but it wont have anything to sit flat against. You could pre-fill to the wall then as it sets run a joint kife along the wall junction to create a space for the bead. Timing is important or you will need to use a trimming blade if it sets to hard. Too soft and you will just drag out the pre fill. Not the easiest of jobs for an unskilled plasterer.

Or you could put cornice back.

You could use tearaway L bead if the tiles are a little in and out. After the bead is topcoated, you simply pull away the plastic guide bead and sand smooth

I used P60 shadow line with a 6mm recess which looked good, other option is to reline ceiling bringing the height down 20mm. Othereise the flat plastic tear away is a good suggestion, especially because it won't rust in years to come
