fixing centres for ceiling plasterboard with no adhesive
My first post here so please treat me gently :)
I am lining a large shed it has 25 degree pitch ceiling and an all metal frame.
I have insulated the ceiling using fibreglass and foil. probably not the recommended way but without removing the external cladding it seemed the most logical.
I have then run the battens/furring lengthways from wall to peak at 600 centres, and affixed to the ceiling joists at around 1100mm centres with 2 screws each side for strength. Please see attached pic.
The intention is to affix the plasterboard lengthways (unispan). This was primarily because it seemed easier, plus it meant I didn't have to have extra battens to support the edges. which would have been unsupported themselves.
I was going to use a combination of screws and glue, but having read the instructions, I now realise that its probably the wrong thing to do. One instruction was to place the glue no closer than 200mm from the edges, apart from the centre line, that's not possible.
What centres should I set the fixing screws?
Should I use 2 screws per fixing point?
Am I headed for disaster?
