Default how to fill 1-2cm gap between ceiling & wall

New to this work and I have been using "no more gaps" to fill cracks, holes etc. There is a gap between the ceiling and the cornice on the wall and dirt/dust falls out. How and what can I use to fill it without the filler falling down out of the gap. Hope someone can help.

I would put a few screws into the cornice first this will close the gap a bit, then use no more gaps. and plaster to stop up the screw heads, (any sort of plaster will do).

Sorry I miss read your post 1-2 cm not 1-2mm.

Can I ask why you have a gap of 20mm between the wall and the cornice?

If it is this wide was it always that wide? or has some wall lining been removed to create the gap?

    Hi Rod
The room was added to the original house decades ago and the work was poorly done. We want to knock it down and rebuild but that will be about 5 years away. The gap has been there since we moved in.

It is quite a large gap to fill ad get looking right. The way I would go about it is to use a thick mix of cornice adhesive and using a joint knife stuff as much into the crack as I could. The mix will tend to ooze out a bit, thats ok you want it to. As it wets off i then scrape it back level ant the bottom.

Timing is important here, if you leave it oo long it will become very hard to scrape back, too early and it will not scrape back smooth.

Try a section about 1 meter long add a good wack of salt to get it to set quick. You will find it will set in about 5 -10 minutes.

    Cheers Rod
