Default Fixing a bad rendering job

Can anyone please tell me whether it is possible to fix a bad rendering job? Is it a difficult and expensive process?

Can anyone recommend renderers in the South East of Victoria?

We live in a cottage style semi detached house and the previous owners have rendered the front of the house and the fence but you can see obvious "brush/blending marks" (I'm not sure of the correct terminology ) i.e. it is not a smooth job. Whilst I understand that some rendering jobs are designed to look rough and natural, I don't think this is the case with our house. It is very patchy with some areas built up more than others.

If you can see brush-like marks (and possibly the mortar lines ghosting through) it sounds more like a bagged finish rather than a render. These (if they are soundly adhering) can be rendered over as the acrylic-modified renders stick like the proverbial, however you may find that some renderers won't quote on the job without including removal of it or at the very least keying of the wall, especially if the finish has been painted.

We have a bagged finish on our house (built 12 yrs ago) and it was truly the worst finish I have seen on anything (sand castles included!). I'm talking about obvious finger marks and big globs and sharp sticking out bits. I fought hard with the builder - almost 2 years of letter writing and phone calls and got them to redo it. They basically used a brick to rub it all back then redid it. So yes it can be done. As far as getting someone good - I would look at their work.

I am considering getting the house rendered for that nice smooth finish so will be interested to see how you go.

    Good Luck!
