Hi Guys I've got a bit of a project to resurrect my Ma-in-Laws electric mower so we can mow the 5M² of front lawn and footpath at her place. I believe the mower to be circa 1975. Mum filed away the instruction card before she lent the mower to the neighbours, so I can quote "Sunbeam Vacum Action 18" twin cut 240V 1.25hp Electric mower Model EM-C". When mower came back catcher and spare blades had gone missing.
I plugged it in and hit the go lever and it didn't trip the ELCBR . So far so good; cleaned away 20 years of grass caked under the thing. Commutator and brushes are quite and there is little play in motor bearings, drive belts are stretched but will do, twin blade plates OK bearings are not too noisy ... but the blades are a bit off, they are stamped Sunbeam and are an absolute peice of work. A Google search and phone calls to specilist mower suppliers and Victa has drawn a blank.
I have attached a happy snap of the blades.
So help please! Any suggestions on a source for the blades or an alternate replacement would be very much appreciated.
Cheers Vern
PS. on closer inspection of the blades and looking at the Instruction card,I realised that the blades have worn away to their current shape. They indeed started life as square ended blades
