Default Choosing a garage company Ranbuild Sadich or Safety Steel

    Hi there

Looking for a bit of advice, I am currently pricing some suppliers for a double garage 7.5 * 14.4 metres from Ranbuild, Sadich and Safety Steel. Pricing is that Safety Steel is cheaper, Sadich then Ranbuild, but it is stated that Sadich and Ranbuild use Australian BlueScope steel and the implicationis that SS is sourcing their steel from elsewhere. I have seen the SS post tubing and it is labelled Australian tube mills. As for the sheeting SS does not have colorbond color samples, but an equivalent colour scheme.

If you have any of these companies products would you recommend them and how long have you had one of their sheds.

Ranbuild seem to have a good reputation but I have not heard much about Sadich.

Question about Roller doors, some people tell me that BND Roller doors are now not the same quaility that they once were and I am looking at Stramit because they have an extra 100 mm clearance in their domestic range. 3100 high * 3050 wide. Are these good quality doors?

    Thanks for any information

    Kevin

Hi mate. I went through a similar process when choosing my shed. I did some reading on Shedblog and it gave me a good head start. The thing you need to look at at the BMT (Base metal thickness) and TST (total sheet thickness- probably wrong about this) as this gives you an apple to apple comparisons place to start. The thin chinese crap is just that. Stay clear!
Stramit and Lysart are the two major metal mobs in Aus. Both are as good as each other in my opinion. also do some research on the thickness of the steel they use in the frame construction.

Nextdoor have a BMD doors on his shed that has been up for 8+ years. No issues that he has told me about.

I can totally recommend Tumut River Sheds Tumut River Sheds
I just had a shed supplied by them and their support was amazing. They kept me updated with phone calls regarding delivery times and even checked if it was delivered on time.

Didn't hurt they were the cheapest either

What is the size (and guage) of the structural members?
What is the thickness (Base Metal Thickness) of the cladding?

Which of them was the quickest to deal with your quote (often a sign of how they will value your order)?

Even Bluescope cannot guarantee 100% Australian steel these days. If they run short they will source from their Asian steel mills.

All the rest were quicker with the quote. These guys (Tumut river sheds) pretty much came out of the blue a week or so later.

A wise man once said "If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better. There is hardly anything in the world that someone can't make a little worse and sell a little cheaper- and people who consider price alone are this man's lawful prey"

We never use 0.35 feed on the walls, always 0.42. A common point of failure is where a shed tek loosens off slightly and the sheet can start to move against the tek. Eventually, it can rip though the shed, and bingo your shed is open and starting to fail. For a small premium I personally think 0.42 all the way round is the way to go.

for some reason when I got by shed from ranbuild they offered me the cheaper version. What the difference was they didn't tell me.
A good tradesman can repair his mistakes. A bad one will tell you that he does't make any.

Sounds like a good reason there Pinger.
That said, I'll be surprised if my tek screws loosen off after being driven in with my super duper new Dewalt cordless driver
Prices wasn't the only reason reason I went with these guys. A bit part was they were friendly and bent over backwards for my whims.

Well it sounds like you have made the decision wisely. I would never buy anything from someone I didn't like, or someone who took a week to get a quote back to me or did not seem interested in what I wanted.

It staggers me that people will risk losing everything in dealing with someone who is slightly cheaper, but clearly not interested in providing any service.

    Default Ranbuild shed assembly instructions

I have picked up a new 6m x 6m Ranbuild Deluxe garage kit second hand. Has never been unpacked. The seller had everything but the assembly instructions. If anyone has a set of instructions I would be forever grateful if I could get hold of a copy

I uploaded some generic instructions in the library. Those should give you a good idea.

Did you get some instructions mate? Ranbuild were about the only ones I couldn't find online. I have the set I can email you? They should be read in conjunction with your Bill of Materials. The other option is of the original owner has a job number ranbuild may still have them?

Anyway PM your email and am happy to send mine.

Thanks for this tip Pinger, when ordering the shed last month I up'd the wall thickness of the wall cladding to .42, only cost another $200 for a 9m x 7m. Bit sorry I didn't take the roof sheeting up from .42 to .47 now but it was a last minute change. All going well the shed will be here tommorrow!
