    Default INVITE Melbourne Area

For those who are building, renovating or just plain interested .......
Have you heard of Sick Building Syndrome? or the fact that your home can be sending you to the doctors?.......then this is for you and may be of interest to others you may know.
A group of professionals will provide information on how one can create not only a sustainable home, but a healthy one at that.

You think this is nuts....how many do you know with sensitivities or health issues?

Plenty, the question is the cause(s) - and that's not so easy to answer . . .

Whether sourced from 'nature' or otherwise the products we use are chemicals and all have their advantages and disadvantages - and it is also the compounds formed that matter too. For example sodium is a highly reactive metal that oxidises explosively, chlorine is a deadly gas - but the compound formed by mixing them, sodium chloride (salt), is a valuable and useful product for humans (and it too in excess, like water, can be a health threat).

Choices on 'safe' and 'healthy' products should stay being about evidence and science, not on a belief that 'natural' = safe &/or healthy. 'Natural' products can be either or both, but might not be - science gives us the capacity to know the difference (or can tell us what we don't know!).

    Ahh - off to the Debates sub-forum eh . . .

    Hi
How very true, and there are many that are sensitive to natural materials such as orange oil and linseed........but if you know that a specific product has an ingredient that one may be sensitive to, then at least you can choose to use it or not.
What happens to those that are sensitive, frail, babies etc that come in contact with products where the ingredients are not known? This is when we should start asking ourselves why Australia has one of the worst asthma and allergy rates in the world.
Debate is always good Bloss, it opens the mind to other thoughts.
