Polyester Insulation Help I am installing polyester insulation in an internal wall cavity, for sound insulation. The research seems to suggest that it is as good as Rockwool (and far more comfortable to use)
It comes in a long roll 640mm wide.
It is wasteful to cut each piece to the exact size (to fit between studs, noggings etc).
It is tempting to use two off-cuts butted up together, in some places. They seem to fit tightly, and the fibres seem to mesh in together a bit.
Does this affect the sound insulation effectiveness?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about sound insulation effectiveness of butting the two pieces together, but I've done that for the rockwool insulation for temperature and haven't had a problem. I suppose the biggest thing is to continue as you've done, make sure the two pieces mesh as closely as possible without wadding them.

I've done this with Insulco AcoustiTherm glass fibre insulation bats and also confirmed with Insulco whether I can do the exact same thing you're trying to do and they said it was fine, so long as you mesh up all the gaps. So I'm sure the poly stuff will be the same or similar.
