    Default Sarking/Reflective Foil Insulation

Doing some reading in regards to cooling my townhouse during summer, it seems that sarking/reflective foil is perhaps the most effective measure. Mine already has sarking between the roof tiles and rafters, plus there are insulation batts. For further improvements, can I add another layer of reflective insulation, perhaps staple it to the rafters?

Yes. But it won't add much - perhaps R1.2 at most if you get the heavy duty wrap.

What R- value are the existing batts? And can you add more?

Above all......is the roof where the problem is?

The existing batts are new, polyester R3.5 ones, plus I threw a few additional batts I had over the top of them.

Hard to tell where the problem is. The roof tiles are a chocolate/brown colour; I know that's a problem but I can't do anything about them (strata). I have blinds on all windows and keep them shut during the day.
